SMPS TALKS: Unconscious Bias Workshop

April 11, 2018
4:00pm - 6:00pm
PBS Engineering
Large Conference Area
4343 SW Corbett Avenue
Portland, Oregon 97239

How can we hire, retain, and develop the best people for our organization if we are not even aware of the unconscious forces that control the choices we make?

Over the past decade, studies and surveys have consistently shown two things: First: if you are human, you have bias, which impacts almost every aspect of our human identity (race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, body size, etc.) Second: companies that have a formal diversity and inclusion strategy in place have a higher bottom line, and have smarter teams that produce better outcomes than homogenous high-performing groups.

This interactive workshop will set the framework for how we as Marketing and Business Development professionals can begin to mitigate the impact of bias on organizational decision-making within our firms by developing approaches that assist us in making decisions more consciously.

Target Audience
SMPS TALKS is geared towards SMPS Fellows, Senior Marketers/BD professionals, Principals, Owners. However – unconscious bias affects us all, and we highly recommend every level of staff to attend.
